Pigment

Pigment is an artsy, expressive commerce template for a premium artist-paint and art-supply brand. It trades the usual clean grid for an editorial collage: a warm hand-torn paper canvas, an ink-black display serif set enormous, and painterly pigment swatches (organic, hand-shaped blobs) used as structural blocks that overlap and tilt. Sections include a big asymmetric hero over a torn-swatch strip, a named colour library of paint chips, a featured-products grid with real photography and prices, an inverted "our craft" story block, an artist quote beside a stat band, a bold newsletter CTA and a considered footer. The whole page reads like a beautifully art-directed supply catalogue rather than a SaaS store, and every theme colour is live-recolorable through the Studio.

Artsy, editorial and hand-made — warm paper stock, oversized display serif, and painterly pigment swatches used as structural collage.

Paint that

a promise.

Single-pigment oils, watercolours and hand-ground earths, milled in small batches for painters who care what a colour does when it dries.

Grinding pigment by hand in the studio
Our craft

We still grind by stone.

Half a century in the same mill, we source raw earths and mineral pigments from quarries we visit ourselves, then grind each one to the finest particle that keeps its character.

No fillers, no shortcuts, no colour that pretends to be something it is not. What you swatch is what you get, tube after tube.

The vermilion actually stays vermilion. I stopped second-guessing my palette and started trusting it — Pigment changed how I paint.

Design rules

The system, applied to any site

  • Set the whole page on a warm hand-torn paper canvas (soft cream) with ink-black text, and let two saturated pigment accents — a vermilion and a cobalt — carry the colour, applied as painterly blocks rather than flat fills.
  • Set headlines in a large expressive display serif with tight negative letter-spacing and the occasional italic word for emphasis; keep body copy and all labels calm in a neutral sans and a system monospace.
  • Use organic, hand-shaped "swatch" blobs (asymmetric border-radius) as the signature motif — logo mark, colour chips, product tags and section markers — and let blocks overlap and tilt slightly for a collage feel.
  • Break the grid: stagger sections asymmetrically, rotate cards a fraction of a degree, and overlap images with colour blobs so the layout reads hand-arranged, not templated.
  • Show product colour honestly — name every hue, swatch it on the page, and pair real photography with real prices; add texture with a faint paper grain and soft inset shadows on the swatches.
