Margin
Margin is a personal writing home built for reading, not for chrome. Everything lives in one warm, narrow column signed by a single motif: THE MARGIN RULE — a continuous inked hairline down the left, with folio numbers (№ 50) and oldstyle-figure dates hung in the gutter as marginalia, a literal play on the name. A quiet running head opens the page; a large serif wordmark is sealed by a hand-inked fountain-pen nib; an editorial lede opens on a serif drop-cap and is signed with a flowing hand-drawn ink signature (pure SVG). Recent essays form an index where a tag, read-time, serif title and one-line excerpt sit on roomy rows split only by hairline rules, each with a hover tick and arrow. The featured essay carries no photograph at all — it is pure type: an oversized ghosted folio number sits behind a broadsheet serif headline in a bordered cream panel. A short Now note, a monthly-letter sign-up and a spare footer of text social links close the page. On load the margin rule draws itself downward, the nib and signature ink themselves in, and column blocks rise gently into place — all motion stilled under prefers-reduced-motion. Warm cream paper, ink-near-black Fraunces serif, oldstyle numerals and a single burnt-sienna accent keep it restful and legible. No images anywhere — inline SVG and CSS only.
Quiet and book-like — a writer’s ruled notebook translated to the web, where one warm column of serif type, oldstyle numerals, a hand-inked nib and signature, and marginalia hung against a single margin rule do all the work. Pure type and ink, no photography.
