Beacon

Beacon is a landing template for shipping a developer CLI, not documenting one. The ink-black canvas and a single vivid beacon-orange accent put the install command and a realistic terminal session front and centre, so the tool demonstrates itself above the fold. A copy-to-clipboard install box, a windowed terminal showing real commands with token-coloured output, a three-step quickstart, and a metric-led features grid turn "it just works" into something an engineer can read in seconds.

Dark terminal calm — a command-line tool that proves itself by running, not by promising.

v3.2 · zero-config

Your project, shipped from the terminal.

Beacon builds, previews, and deploys with one command. No YAML to memorise, no dashboard to babysit — just the shell you already live in.

From zero to deployed

~3 min
01
Install once
$ npm i -g @beacon/cli

One global binary, no runtime to manage. Works the same on macOS, Linux, and Windows shells.

02
Initialise
$ beacon init

Beacon detects your framework and writes a single sensible config — edit it later, or never.

03
Ship it
$ beacon ship

Build, preview, and deploy in one pass. The command exits non-zero on failure, so CI just works.

Built to live in your shell

Fast enough to keep in a hot loop, predictable enough to wire into CI, and quiet enough to forget it is there.

38ms
cold start

A single static binary boots before your prompt blinks — no Node spin-up, no JIT warm-up.

0
config files

Conventions over ceremony. Beacon infers your setup and only asks when it truly cannot guess.

exit 0/1
scriptable

Clean exit codes, JSON output behind --json, and stable flags make it safe to pipe and automate.

5
platforms

Prebuilt for macOS (arm64 + x64), Linux, Windows, and Alpine — checksummed on every release.

Design rules

The system, applied to any site

  • Stay dark and near-monochrome: an ink-black canvas (#0B0E14) with a marginally lighter panel surface (#141925), and reserve the single vivid beacon-orange accent (#FF7A45) for the primary CTA, the prompt sigil, and command names — never as a background wash.
  • Lead with the command, not a photo: the hero centres on a copy-able install line and a windowed terminal session, so the tool runs in front of the reader before any prose. Ship no images at all.
  • Set everything technical in monospace: the install box, terminal session, flags, paths, exit codes, and metric numerals all use a monospace stack (ui-monospace, SFMono-Regular, "JetBrains Mono", Menlo), while body copy stays in a clean sans-serif (Inter).
  • Token-colour the terminal: give commands the orange accent, flags and options the teal secondary (#2DD4BF), strings a warm amber, paths and comments a desaturated grey, and success marks a muted green — so output reads like a real shell.
  • Favour hairline borders (#222A38) and small 10px radii over shadows; separate sections with thin rules and generous vertical rhythm instead of heavy cards or gradients.
  • Keep contrast high and copy terse: bright text (#E6EAF0) on dark, muted grey (#7E8AA0) for secondary lines, short imperative labels, and no decorative filler.

Warm bread, slow mornings, a kinder kind of breakfast.

A small neighborhood bakery turning honest flour, patient time and a hot oven into crusty loaves, buttery pastries and the best excuse to leave the house early.

Stone-milled flour, 24-hour rise. Out of the oven at 7am.

Today’s bakes

A short, ever-changing list. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Stone Country Loaf

$8

Stone-milled wheat, 24-hour cold rise, blistered crust.

Brown-Butter Croissant

$5

Laminated by hand, folded thirty-six times, shatteringly flaky.

Honey Rye Bun

$4

Dark rye crumb, wildflower honey glaze, toasted caraway.

Our story
“We started with one borrowed oven, a sack of flour, and the stubborn belief that bread tastes better when nobody’s in a hurry.”

Eight years on, we still mix every dough by hand, still proof it overnight, and still sell out by noon most days. Flour & Ember is run by the same two bakers who opened it — you’ll usually find us dusted in flour behind the counter.

— Mara & Tomás, founders & head bakers
