Experimental

Atrium

Atrium is a gallery-minimal template built around extreme whitespace and the art itself. A calm hero frames the current exhibition with one large work, while a museum-style grid presents each piece above a small caption plate — artist, title, year and medium — set like a wall label. Pure off-white walls, near-black ink, hairline rules and a single quiet umber accent keep the design refined and out of the way.

Museum-quiet and art-led — works hang on an empty white wall and tiny caption plates carry the words.

Design rules

The system, applied to any site

  • Hang the art on an empty wall: surround every work with extreme whitespace so the page reads like a gallery room, never a busy feed.
  • Stay gallery-minimal — a near-white off-white canvas (#FAFAF9), near-black ink text, soft tinted blocks for empty frames, and a single quiet umber accent (#8F6A53) used only for fine emphasis.
  • Pair an elegant serif (Cormorant Garamond) for exhibition and work titles with a crisp sans (Inter) for navigation and labels; keep type quiet and confident.
  • Caption every work like a museum wall label: artist, title, year and medium set in tiny letter-spaced caps on a small plate beneath the piece.
  • Carry structure with whitespace and hairline rules instead of cards, shadows or fills; corners stay near-sharp at 1px.
  • Keep copy spare and curatorial — short, calm statements with plenty of room to breathe between sections.

Baked fresh every sunrise

Warm bread, slow mornings, a kinder kind of breakfast.

A small neighborhood bakery turning honest flour, patient time and a hot oven into crusty loaves, buttery pastries and the best excuse to leave the house early.

Today: Country Loaf

$8

Stone-milled flour, 24-hour rise. Out of the oven at 7am.

Today’s bakes

A short, ever-changing list. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Stone Country Loaf

$8

Stone-milled wheat, 24-hour cold rise, blistered crust.

Brown-Butter Croissant

$5

Laminated by hand, folded thirty-six times, shatteringly flaky.

Honey Rye Bun

$4

Dark rye crumb, wildflower honey glaze, toasted caraway.

Our story
“We started with one borrowed oven, a sack of flour, and the stubborn belief that bread tastes better when nobody’s in a hurry.”

Eight years on, we still mix every dough by hand, still proof it overnight, and still sell out by noon most days. Flour & Ember is run by the same two bakers who opened it — you’ll usually find us dusted in flour behind the counter.

— Mara & Tomás, founders & head bakers
