The Studio

We work in plan and in person — sketching, building models, walking the site until a building knows where it wants to sit. Then we draw it carefully, once.

A small practice of nine, working across housing, civic and cultural commissions from a converted workshop. We take few projects a year so that each one has the attention it asks for, from the first line to the last handle.

Design rules

The system, applied to any site

Every rule below travels with the template — describe your tweaks and the agent keeps the system intact.

What it decides for you

  • Let the buildings lead: anchor the hero and every project around one large, calm architectural photograph and keep surrounding chrome to a whisper.
  • Stay warm and neutral — a stone-white canvas (#F4F1EB) with soft stone surfaces, near-black ink text and a single muted terracotta accent (#B0563A) reserved for active states and hairline emphasis.
  • Pair a refined serif (Fraunces) for headlines with a crisp sans (Inter) for nav, labels and body, and set project metadata in small letter-spaced caps.
  • Carry meaning with whitespace and hairline rules rather than boxes, shadows or fills; corners stay near-sharp at 2px.
  • Run projects in a generous two-up grid of large images, each tagged with name, location and year, so the page reads as a quiet catalogue rather than a busy gallery.
  • Keep copy spare and confident — short serif statements, no marketing noise, plenty of room to breathe between sections.
