Evergreen

Evergreen is an earthy, trustworthy design system for community organizations, local venues and neighbourhood event listings. A warm oat canvas, terracotta accent and quiet sage secondary make the page feel handmade and welcoming, while a Fraunces serif over clean Inter keeps announcements warm but legible. The layout leads with a wood-toned hero and a white event-detail card that overlaps the photography, then hands off to a scannable list of upcoming events, each row anchored by a stacked month-and-day date chip and a plain Register link.

Earthy, human and trustworthy — warm wood tones and terracotta that make a neighbourhood gathering feel open and cared-for.

A community house on Alder Street

Grand Opening

After a summer of paint and sawdust, the doors are open. Bring a neighbour, pull up a chair, and help us warm the place in — there is bread, there is coffee, and there is a seat with your name on it.

Who we are

A gathering place, run by the people who use it.

Evergreen is a volunteer-run community house on the old mill green — part kitchen, part workshop, part front porch. We opened the doors so that anyone on the street could find a warm room, a shared table, and a reason to knock.

01

Everyone belongs

No membership, no fee, no experience needed. If you live nearby, you belong here.

02

Made by hands

We bake, mend, plant and cook together — the room is always a little bit busy.

03

Rooted local

Every event happens within a ten-minute walk. We keep it small and keep it warm.

Design rules

The system, applied to any site

  • Ground the page in a warm oat background with a terracotta accent for CTAs and dates, and a muted sage as a quiet second colour for tags and small marks — keep the palette earthy, never bright.
  • Lead with a wood-toned hero rendered as a warm CSS gradient (no stock photos required) and float a crisp white event-detail card that overlaps the image, carrying date, time and address in small monospace labels above a solid "RSVP today" button.
  • List upcoming events as tidy full-width rows, each led by a stacked date chip — a small uppercase month over a large day number — then the title, the venue, and a plain "Register" link on the right.
  • Pair a warm serif (Fraunces) for headlines and date numerals with clean Inter for body and details, and use small-caps, wide-tracked monospace labels for metadata like DATE / TIME / VENUE.
  • Keep corners softly rounded (about 12px), shadows low and warm-tinted, and whitespace generous so the page reads as calm and community-run rather than corporate.
  • Add human trust signals — an about-the-collective note, real-sounding venue names and times, and a footer with a street address and contact — so the organization feels local and reachable.
